The Coast Guard searched the Mississippi River and the Gulf of Mexico for a man missing from a cruise ship.
The Coast Guard said in a statement that the 77-year-old man, who wasn't identified, was reported missing after the Carnival Cruise Ship Fantasy docked in New Orleans, Louisiana about 0400 hours (4am) Saturday, December 1, 2007
Officials said that the man was last seen the night before around 1900 hours (7pm) when the ship about 28 miles off shore.

The Coast Guard said that planes, helicopters and boats were searching an area from the Mississippi River in New Orleans to 28 miles out into the Gulf of Mexico.
Aircraft and personnel involved in the search include: A HU-25 Guardian Falcon Jet and crew from Coast Guard Aviation Training Center in Mobile, Alabama, a Coast Guard Auxiliary plane from New Orleans, Louisiana, a 33-foot small boat crew from the Coast Guard Station in Venice, Louisiana and a HH-65C rescue helicopter and crew from Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans.
