Caldwell and his fiancee Crystal Tinder were on Carnival Fascination's Mexican cruise, when he disappeared near Miami. They were to be married in July 2005.
Chris had 3 beautiful daughters, a good business and many friends. Chris was the owner of Atlantic Coast Entertainment in Va. Beach, Va. until June of 2004. At that time he joined Astro D J.'s, where he had started as a D.J. in the 90's.
On the last night of the cruise, Chris and his fiancée went to dinner with some friends they had met on the cruise. They had drinks and went to a couple of nightclubs on the ship.
When the couple and Chris’ fiancée went back to their cabins about 02:00am to pack and “turn in” for the night, Chris decided to stay in the casino and play a little longer. He told his fiancée that he would be back to the cabin shortly.
The next day, when Chris’ fiancée woke up at 6:30 A.M., she realized that he had not been back to the cabin and proceeded to look for him. After checking all possible places where he might have been, she went to the information desk and had him paged
Video surveillance cameras showed Chris leaving the casino at 2:17 A.M. Interviews with crewmembers revealed that a bartender saw Chris on the promenade deck at 3:30 A.M. and claimed that Chris appeared to be very drunk. Instead of escorting him to his cabin, the bartender ignored his condition.
It is presumed that Chris fell overboard about 14 miles southeast of the Cape Florida Lighthouse. The Coast Guard began an extensive search that lasted for more than 36-hours. During these searches, there was no sign of Chris.
Christopher Paul Caldwell has not been found.
