As majority you know Sherry's first battle with lung cancer began back in 2011 and was stage 2. At that time, she lost a decent amount of both sides of her lungs do to the tumors. She underwent chemotherapy and radiation and was able to beat the cancer. She was faithfully getting checkups and follow ups for the past three years and was in the clear. She was remission for her cancer.
Unfortunately, this past month she noticed some pain and discomfort that had her concerned so she had her husband make her an appointment to go in. The Doctor ordered and MRI and informed the family of a softball sized mass on Sherry's left side and said she needed to undergo further testing stat. So, Sherry had to undergo a PET scan to determine if the mass was in fact a tumor and cancerous.
Today, our family received the worst news possible. Not only was that mass a tumor and cancerous, but the cancer had also spread throughout Sherry's entire left lung (what part she actually had left), to her right hip, and to some of her lymph nodes. The Doctor told the family it was incurable. The only option was to do radiation and chemotherapy to try to shrink the tumors and get Sherry comfortable so they are no longer pressing on her hip bone, ribs, spine, lungs, or any other area that they are pressing on and causing pain and discomfort. Just when the family thought the news couldn't get any worse the Doctor informs us that the cancer is Stage 4 and the life expectancy of that is usually 6 months to a year.
Anyone that knows Sherry knows that she has the biggest heart and would do anything she could to help somebody before she would help herself. Even while battling cancer and being in pain she continuously puts everybody elses needs before her own. She goes above and beyond for anybody and everybody she knows. Most importantly she goes above and beyond for her family. Her husband, children, and her grandchildren mean the world to her. She would give them anything and everything she could. She always put herself last no matter what. She has a heart of gold and we feel it's time she gets a little pampering herself, which we all know she deserves without a doubt.
With this Stage 4 cancer diagnosis, we would love to finally be able to have her be able to go do something for herself, no matter how small, without the worry of her medical bills or the financial jam of not being financially stable to afford something special for herself to enjoy. It would be just the fact that it was something special for her to enjoy herself, kid free, stress free, no worries, and finally a well needed little get away she so well deserves.
You don't have to feel obligated by any means to donate, that's not our intent by any means so we hope you don't feel that way. To those of you who are interested in donating, any little bit will help and go a long way. Just know Sherry will greatly appreciate it as will our family.
Please keep Sherry and our family in your thoughts and prayers. Let's pray that this battle is the least pain free and least amount of suffering possible. We appreciate all the love and support from all of our family and friends and we can't thank you enough.
