Carnival Great Vacation Guarantee Big Customer Service Success
Carnival Cruise Lines' Great Vacation Guarantee has been renewed for another year. The Great Vacation Guarantee was the first cruise line customer service refund program to make an offer that refunds 110 percent of the ticket fare if the guest is unsatisfied with their cruise. The refund policy includes 110 percent refund, complimentary transportation home from the next port of call and a $100 shipboard credit on a future cruise, when the guest notifies guest services aboard their cruise ship within the first 24 hours of embarking from port.
With four and half million passenger since Carnival Cruise Line began offering the Great Vacation Guarantee, only 47 have invoked the guarantee. The customer service public relations move has had a very positive effect on Carnival Cruise Line's Nasdaq traded stock CCL. As seen in the chart below, the ten year CCL history told a story similar to the ten year history of Royal Caribbean Cruise Line stock RCL, as far as the stock crash of late Q4 2008 and Q1 2009, largely due to high fuel costs and fuel surcharges which made ticket purchasing confusing and the price of cruising higher.
In the past year, as seen in the bottom chart below, CCL stock was in a slump back when the Great Cruise Guarantee was launched. largely due to a series of unfortunate events at sea. The stock has risen and been stable since.
