Cruise Line Heroes - Requesting Urgent Medical Airlifts For Dozens Aboard Cruise Ships There were over two dozen reported airlifts or medevacs from cruise ships sailing oceans around the world from January 1, 2014 to September 15, 2014, saving lives and giving urgent care to those who were sick or injured while sailing on a cruise ship. Airlifts were ordered for children, women and men adults, young and old who had fallen sick, had medical complications due to pre-existing conditions or had been injured on the cruise ship or while in a port of call. Airlifts average three a month in recent years, as more passengers take cruises and more cruise ship are sailing the seas.
