On the first night of the music festival cruise Inception at Sea aboard Norwegian Cruise Line’s Norwegian Sky, a brawl broke out back stage among performing musicians Rapper Tyga and dance music group Cash Cash in the early morning hours of Saturday, March 12, 2016.
Inception at Sea event promised 72 hours of non-stop music and said they had booked Bassjackers, Cash Cash, Cazzette, The Chainsmokers, FTampa, Helena Legend, Juicy M, Kap Slap, Lil Dicky, Otto Knows, Sidney Samson, Stafford Brothers, Tyga and other musicians for the three-night Bahamas music festival cruise.
Numerous reports say Tyga delayed the start of his set by over an hour, overlapping with Cash Cash's scheduled show, which had been due to take place on the same stage.
Tyga finished his set, then Cash Cash began unplugging Tyga's gear. An argument began between the two and quckly got physical.
Cash Cash members Samuel Frisch and Jean Paul Makhlouf sustaining injuries, which they showed off in a series of Twitter posts on Saturday. Cash Cash left the Bahamas on Sunday, ending their cruise to head back to the U.S.
In a statement provided by one of the representatives of Cash Cash exclusively to Billboard, it read: “Early Saturday morning members of Tyga’s touring crew physically assaulted Cash Cash during an altercation backstage at Inception at Sea cruise festival. Members affected include Samuel Frisch, and Jean Paul Makhlouf. Jean Paul Makhlouf suffered a concussion, injured kidney, alongside bruises to his head and body following the scuffle. One member of Tyga’s touring crew hit Jean Paul Makhlouf of Cash Cash in the face following a verbal altercation when Tyga’s crew refused to leave the stage after the promoter called Cash Cash to start their already delayed set. [Tyga had postponed his 12:30-1am set to 1:45-2:35am overlapping with the set time of Cash Cash on the same stage.] A Tyga crew member was then filmed kicking Jean Paul in the ribs, while another Tyga crew member slammed him to the ground, punching and kicking his head and body while on top of him. Samuel Frisch was also shoved during the scene. Cash Cash was unable to perform their set and Makhlouf was also forced to miss their following show to recover from the incident.”
The Inception at Sea website promoted the music festival saying, "On two of the days we will dock at Great Stirrup Cay, Norwegian Cruise Line’s private island, where we will be hosting ragers on the beach featuring some of Inception at Sea’s headlining talent.
