Details:
An inquest was held into the death Of Marlane Yeates from the United Kingdom. Yeates was a Mediterranean cruise when she took ill suddenly, with symptoms of vomiting and diarrhea. She was diagnosed with gastroenteritis, or Norovirus as it is more commonly known.
The ship she was on was not mentioned, though it is most likely she was on a Cunard cruise from Southampton, since the ship would have to be registered in the UK in order to hold an inquest there.
The ship returned to England early so Yeates could be admitted to hospital, where she died a few days later.
Speaking at an inquest at Flax Bourton Magistrates Court, members of Mrs Yeates' family said they were concerned that she was not given antibiotics straight away when the ship's doctor said she needed them urgently, but was prescribed them a day before her death which was 'too late.'
District coroner Paul Forrest recorded a verdict of death by natural causes.
She is survived by her husband Andy, children and grandchildren. Funeral was at St. Paul's Church, Clarence Park.
