Micki Kanesaki age 52 and her ex-husband California attorney Lonnie Loren Kocontes age 48 were passengers on the cruise ship Island Escape exploring the Mediterranean.
The Island Escape, is a Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd and First Choice Holidays joint venture.
Micki mysteriously went missing onboard at about 1:00am on Thursday May 26, 2006, between Sicily and Naples.
According to passengers onboard, who spoke to a UK newspaper, they were awaken by the public address system calling for the woman. The passengers were asked to participate in a search onboard to locate her.
Her body was later found floating at sea.
The FBI and the American consulate were notified. A spokeswoman for the FBI in Los Angeles, said the investigation into the cause of the death is continuing and that FBI agents are working with Italian police and State Department officials in Rome.

During a Supreme Court hearing Lonnie Kocontes says he was never charged by the FBI in the death over four years ago of his ex-wife Micki Kanesaki, putting to rest any ideas some may have had that he had anything to do with his ex-wife's death. Details of the Nebraska Supreme Court hearing are here
