Female Passenger Alleges Sexual Assault
Male Passenger Leaves Woman Bruised & Dazed
Pacific Star - December 31, 2007
A woman aboard the P & O Pacific Star has alleged she was attacked by a male passenger in her cabin.
The woman's injury report is supported by evidence found at the scene. Initial reports say a crew member found her bruised, in a state of shock, confused and suffering memory loss about 4am on New Year's Day.
French Police on the island of Lifou in New Caledonia were called to the Pacific Star when the ship stopped there as scheduled.

The male passenger was identified as being age 37 and from New South Wales, Australia. It is alleged he attacked her in a cabin while she slept. He was not arrested.
P&O says the man was removed from the ship after the captain received the sexual assault report and he was sent home. They say staff sealed off the crime scene and seized evidence, having perhaps learned something from past crime scenes aboard P & O shlps down under.
A P&O spokeswoman said the company would not comment on the alleged rape but did say that the French, Australian, New Zealand and New Caledonian police were investigating. Other reports say that Interpol is also investigating.
Both passengers were given the option to to disembark in Noumea and both did.
Early reports said the vessel the crime is alleged to have taken place on was the Pacific Dawn. P & O has now confirmed it was the Pacific Star.
The Pacific Star had another reported sexual assault last year, when a girl age 16, said she was raped in a cabin by a man, while two others watched. That case is here
This new event brings up dark memories of the P & O Cruises Pacific Sky case of Dianne Brimble, who was alleged to be drugged and then sexually assaulted in the cabin of three men. She was found dead on the floor of their cabin.
An inquest into her death brought forth details that some of the men involved in the case had considered throwing her dead body overboard, but they didn't because the hallway was too busy with passengers.
A day earlier, a pedophile was arrested after boarding the Pacific Dawn, undetected. He was caught by these same French police That case is here
Pedophiles gaining illegal cruise boardings from P & O in the South Pacific is a growing problem. Pedophiles are not allowed to leave Australia, after a conviction.
