Rajesh Paul
Ship's Cook Murdered Passenger
M/V Nancowry - December 7, 2003
City Police Commissioner R Natraj claimed to reporters here that the cook Rajesh Paul alias Prem Paul hailing from Port Blair had confessed to the crime and the cleaver used to murder Cohan Yoel, 27,  from Israel had been recovered.

Blood stained clothes worn by the cook, who has been arrested, had also been recovered, Natraj said.

Apparently Paul objected to Yoel's smoking on the deck, and that lead to an argument. Paul saw Yoel sleeping on the fifth deck of the ship and attacked him in the neck a meat cleaver.

Karina Elizabeth, a British national who woke up hearing sounds, realised what had happened but was unable to identify the assailant due to darkness, the police chief said adding that meticulous investigation and interrogation had led to the arrest of Paul.
