A Melbourne man has been fined for assault and kicked off the Pacific Sun cruise ship he attacked two crew members within hours of it sailing from Sydney.
The passenger was issued with a criminal infringement notice and fined $400 for allegedly assaulting two staff members on the P&O ship Pacific Sun, not far outside Sydney Heads.
Police received a call from the ship's captain about 12.30am local time, asking for assistance to remove a man who had allegedly assaulted a female staff member and a male security guard.
The passenger was restrained by the ship's crew, with the Pacific Sun forced to turn back into Sydney Harbour where it was met by Marine Area Command officers at Bradley's Head around 3.15am local time.
The disturbance resulted in the ship taking a cruise to nowhere, with no ports of call, in order to stay on schedule.
