Cruise Bruise: Severe Bed Bug Attack
Bruise Location: Galveston - At Sea
Age: 58
Home Town: New York
Cruise Line: Carnival Cruise Lines
Ship: Imagination
Details:
Myself, and one of my foster children 15yrs old were bitten by bed bugs
My granddaughter 3yrs old got sick the 1st day of cruise.
My other foster child Maria, became sick a couple of days later.
I requested the bedding be changed and the cabin be disinfected, the man cleaning the room kept dropping the clean linen of top of the dirty linen he put on the floor.
I asked him to use disinfectant, his reply was "what is that". I asked if he needed help. He didn't answer, so I proceeded to help him .
When we returned to NY I called customer relations and they said they would document this., they gave me a file #1238544E and said that it would be documented and that was all they could do , due to the fact that we paid a friends and family rate.
Shortly after I returned home I received emails from Carnival soliciting for cruises. I answered one telling them of what had happened. A woman called me and again I
explained what happened. She said regardless of what we paid I should write a letter, it was right.
I conveyed this to customer relations and was told their policy for friends and family rates did not cover any problems like this.
Myself and my party of foster children grandchildren and daughters came to a party of 9.We paid per person $487.25.
My daughter and 3 of my grandchildren were in another cabin, they did not get sick or bitten by bed bugs.
This was my 1st cruise and was, to be a pleasant and relaxing experience, since 12 yrs ago my husband had purchased us a cruise and because of a terrible car accident I wound up in a wheelchair for 2yrs and have had a permanent injury, with chronic pain ever since. We gave our tickets away.
It was not a pleasant experience for me , I never expected to be bitten by bed bugs or have the children get sick.
Today I found this site and felt it was necessary to report this, since Carnival is so insistent about any monetary compensation
