The case of cruise ship passenger, Micki Kanesaki, who went missing on a cruise aboard Island Escape while sailing on the cruise ship with her ex-husband in the Mediterranean is now in court. Kanesaki went overboard nearly seven years ago on May 26, 2006. Not long after she went overboard, her body was found and autopsy results confirmed she didn't jump overboard, she'd been strangled to death prior to being dumped into the sea.
I have followed this case since day one, ultimately coming to know more about Micki Kanesaki and her relationship with Lonnie Kocontes than any other person outside law enforcement.
In my last blog post on his case, I posted the latest facts related to the investigation into Kanesaki's death and updated her case page. Soon after that blog post, a confidential informant came forward in the case to thank me for staying on this case for so long and keeping it in the public eye, along with much of the information I had dug up over the years.
While the informant didn't say who they were or how they knew Kanesaki and Kocontes, a vigorous investigation into that email's origin produced a batch of new information in the case, as I worked to find out who this informant might be.
Having confirmed that identity, I find the information this person shared and any other information the informant might share to be highly credible. Per my privacy policy terms of service. I will only divulge information gained through my website to law enforcement, when requested to do so.
The cruise ship murder case of Micki Kanesaki will be updated after Lonnie Kocontes, who maintains his innocence, appears in court again at the end of the month.
