More Women Say Husbands Were Taken
Carnival Cruise Lines Divides Married's
March 15, 2008
After our first story of the married couple separated in the Florida motel room, sent to separate ships, then told if they want to be with their husbands they would have to pay for the expenses and flight to join them, more women have come forward telling the same story. All of them are Carnival Cruise Line employees.
. . . "Company tell me if we want to be together we need to pay all flight expenses for us to get to one ship and it is our own that they do not care.
It is not right. Where do we find cash to do this? If we do not borrow or loan money to do this then we will be separated still.
I know we must be together if separated between ships then we might lose our ties as a couple and this will make us both sad. We can not quit our jobs we need the money.
I see other women who are separated from their husbands, like one girl just married 8 weeks ago, and time to join [Carnival Cruise Lines] they got different ships.
Another female crew member tells a very sad story of how Carnival broke up her marriage, right when she needed her husband most. She faces a problem many women face, needing to work in order to make enough money to survive, but wanting to have children and a marriage as well.
. . . "I am working X years with the company and my husband X years.
Now we have different ships he is in New York and me in LA. If we want to be together it seems impossible cause now it will be so expensive to get a ticket to transfer.
"First off we both asked for same ships. Now pregnant with a baby on the way the ships doctor tell me its too expensive for the company to send crew to seek medical attention on port. So I should think of going home, resign or whichever, I choose."
"The problem is soon my retirement is due and if they do this to me they rob me of my money, this is wrong."
"With last baby two years back they left me home for 1 year, and took it off my service years. They keep doing this to married women and all of us worry and hope you will address this issue and maybe start a site where all ladies can write and make CLUB OR SOMTHING."
The stress of being separated from my husband kills me emotionally and psychologically. Only imagining what my husband goes through too, everyday I weep and have one to care for me, pregnancy is not a sickness but a man and lady should not be separated."
What if this is the bosses wife having baby.Tell the company to think of its ladies the crew whom working hard and at the same time need to start families too before our biological clocks stop ticking."
We have women making very little money, unless, they say, they sleep with the manager, who are married, separated from their husbands, deliberately, for what good reason?
The policy creates a scenario the further facilitates crimes against female crew members. Some of the women have been married many years. Now there are reports of newlyweds and pregnant women having their husbands ripped away.
Since there is an endless stream of victims from third world nations, it is very difficult to get an industry, or any specific cruise line to create contracts that are good for their workers, including family unification.
The only way we will be able to change this policy, is for the WOMEN of AMERICA to say they will NOT book cruises on ships that do NOT have policy to guarantee no woman will be terminated or penalized for reporting physical or sexual abuse, and that the cruise line hiring policy says it will NOT separate married couples.
Who of you reading this are willing to make a stand?
