Noah's Ark cruise ship can hold 5,000 people aboard the 410-foot-long, 75-foot-high, five deck ship. Noah's Ark is trying to generate donations for the
$2.5 million biblical cruise which will have no passengers or crew due to the ship not being SOLAS(Safety of Life at Sea)compliant.
The tourist attraction cruise, which will be broadcast live on the internet, embarks from the Netherlands to Brazil, with port of calls at Fortaleza, Rio de Janeiro, Manaus, Belem, Recife, Salvador, Vitoria, Santos-Guaruja, Florianopolis and Porto Alegre.
The biblical cruise continues onto Montevideo-Uruguay, Buenos Aires-Argentina, Havana-Cuba, Panama and Columbia before continuing on to the California cruise ports of San Diego, Long Beach and San Francisco, finally arriving at Seattle, Washington.
Johan Huibers, 33, is the ark builder who "was inspired to build a half-size model of Noah’s Ark in 2004 after he dreamed that the province of Noord-Holland in the Netherlands was flooded like the story in the Old Testament."
Huibers hopes the biblical cruise will be flooded by South Americans and other tourists prior to The Ark of Noah remaining in Brazil for two to four years. Huibers says, "Transportation of the Ark of Noah from The Netherlands to Brazil will be an incredible undertaking made possible by donations. The voyage will be streamed live on the internet. People will see the barge on which the Ark of Noah will be mounted for the crossing of the Atlantic Ocean."
Others involved in the biblical cruise include David Rivera, President for the Ark of Noah Foundation who says, "In the summer of 2016 the Ark of Noah project will be traveling to several ports in Brazil with scheduled visits planned for Fortaleza and Rio de Janeiro for the 2016 Summer Olympic Games."
Mr. Rivera, started his career as a Sales Representative for the 3M Company. In 1992 he was promoted to the 3M Health Care Division as Corporate Account Manager. In 2000, he was promoted to the 3M Industrial Markets as 3M Channel Specialist. In 2009 David retired from the 3M Company after serving twenty-seven plus years. He received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from California State University, Los Angeles in 1980 and served in the United States Air Force from 1970 -1974.
